  • Tripura to Host 7th International Tourism Mart

By NE Reporter on November 19, 2018

    AGARTHALA:
Tripura will host three-day 7th International Tourism Mart from November 22 at Agartala with tour operator delegates from 18 countries participating in an effort to popularise tourist destinations in the northeastern states, Tripura Tourism Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said here Sunday.

The event would be organised with an estimated budget of Rs 2.60 crores, which would be provided by the Ministry of Tourism.

“Union Minister of State for Tourism K J Alphons will inaugurate the 7th International Tourism Mart on October 22 at Prajna Bhavan here. The event will include cultural festivals and discussions on the theme for this year – adventure tourism,” Roy told reporters.

He also informed that 60 tour operator delegates from different foreign countries have confirmed participation in the tourism mart so far, including 16 delegates from Bangladesh, two delegates from Australia, three from Canada, three from China, one from France, among others.

Apart from the foreign participants, 70 tour operators would join the tourism mart from the eight NE states. 30 others would participate from other states of the country.

Roy said that the event would include discussions, business-to-business engagements between foreign and domestic tour operators, introduction to tourist destinations and other attractions of Tripura and northeastern states.

Special gift hampers with handicraft products from NE region, Tripura tea and risa – traditional attire of Tripuri tribes — would be given to all participants in the mart.

“We hope to showcase the natural beauty of Tripura among the domestic and foreign tour operators. We believe they will be instrumental in getting tourists from different countries,” Roy said.

This event has been organised in Assam, Meghalaya and Manipur in the past. The previous edition of this event was organised in Guwahati in December 2017.
