  • UST Lifeline Blood Donation Project Expands to Kochi

By NE Reporter on August 12, 2025

    KOCHI:
UST, a leading digital transformation solutions company, has expanded its UST Lifeline Project that aims at fostering a culture of regular blood donation and awareness, to the Kochi region. The project, which had its Thiruvananthapuram roll out last year, is taken forward in partnership with the Kerala Police’s Pol-Blood initiative and the Kerala State Blood Transfusion Council (KSBTC).

Since inception in May 2024 in Thiruvananthapuram, UST Lifeline has enabled hundreds of successful blood donations. As many as 12 successful blood donation camps, 781 registrations, and 497 successful donations have been done so far. 250 blood requests have been fulfilled through Pol-Blood and the Kerala State Blood Transfusion Council. The UST-Kerala Police – KSBTC collaboration has not only saved lives but also reinforced the company’s commitment towards social responsibility.

The concept became a reality when Kerala Police and KSBTC had approached UST with a proposal to conduct a blood donation drive, aiming to strengthen the community’s blood reserves. Following this, UST decided to be part of the initiative by not only contributing to a critical public health need but by instilling a culture of voluntary blood donation among the company’s employees.

“Collaborating with UST in pushing forward a mission that would foster a culture of regular blood donation and awareness has proved to be immensely fruitful. UST is wholeheartedly participating in this initiative by taking its UST Lifeline Project beyond Thiruvananthapuram to Kochi. We are grateful to UST for its efforts in this domain,” said Aswathy Jiji IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police Law and Order, Traffic, Kerala Police.

“UST Lifeline Project, which was initiated last year in a bid to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation and to encourage active participation among our employees, has now expanded to the Kochi region. While UST employees have been very active in blood donation since the inception of the company and have been winners of the ‘Best Blood Donor Company’ award many times, the Lifeline initiative will allow us to accelerate the impact as we collaborate with the Kerala Police and KSBTC through informative sessions, internal campaigns, and engagement events. We are grateful to the Kerala Police and KSBTC for partnering us in this noble initiative in a big way,” said Sunil Balakrishnan, Chief Values Officer and Global head of Development Center operations, UST.

The Kochi launch of UST Lifeline was attended by Aswathy Jiji IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police Law and Order, Traffic, Kerala Police; Sinu Kadakampally, Assistant Director-Blood Transfusion Services; Benny John, Assistant General Manager – Leasing & Marketing, Brigade Group, and Pradeep Rajan, Assistant General Manager – Facilities, World Trade Center Kochi.

Sunil Balakrishnan, Chief Values Officer and Global head of Development Center operations; Nipun Varma Global program manager APAC; Vineeth Mohan, CSR lead; Vinod Rajan, Global Program Manager–Office of Values & Culture; Bhavya Mohan; Byju Thekkumpuram Kochappan; Sruthi Krishna; and Roshni Das K, Kerala PR lead; from UST were present at the inauguration event.
