  • Best Restaurants in Capital City to be Presented with Metro Food Awards

    THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
    In a bid to recognize the restaurants in and around Thiruvananthapuram city for their efforts in providing healthy and hearty food to diners throughout the year, the city-based Metro Mart Creative and Events will organize this year’s Metro Food Awards – 2016 at the Mascot Hotel on December 7.
    The Metro Food Awards – 2016 is being organised in association with Kerala Tourism, Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC), South Kerala Hotelier’s Forum (SKHF), and TCCI.
    The Metro Food Awards-2016 would consider and take into account aspects such as professionalism and dynamism of restaurants in the city before deciding on the winners.
    Besides, good workmanship, acumen and skills of the restaurateurs would weigh in as core factors that would decide on the success of restaurants, according to Siji Nair, Managing Director, Metro Food Awards – 2016.
    “We believe that it is the diners who should acknowledge and vote to select the best restaurants. Experts from the culinary space who offer good food and great dining experience would be chosen by the diners themselves,” he added.
    The Metro Food Awards 2016 function will be inaugurated by Kadakampally Surendran, Minister for Tourism, and the awards will be given away by P. Thilothaman, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies. Mercykutty Amma, Minister for Fisheries, Harbour Engineering and Cashew Industry, will launch the Sunday Card, while M Vijayakumar, Chairman KTDC, will inaugurate the Metro Mart News website.
    The function will be presided over by K Muraleedharan, MLA. Dr Venu. V, Principal Secretary, Kerala Tourism, will be the chief guest. The function will be attended by U V Jose, Director, Kerala Tourism, Abraham George, President, KTM, Chacko Paul, President, SKHF, S N Raghuchandran Nair, President, TCCI, E M Najeeb, President, Confederation of Kerala Tourism Industry, Suresh M Pillai, Vice President, SIHRA, L V Kumar, Principal, IHMCT, and Siji Nair, Managing Director, Metro Mart Creative and Events.
    The awards will have different categories so as to rate and include all types of restaurants in the city. Nominations for the awards have been based on criteria such as: the establishment should be based within the city of Thiruvananthapuram; the restaurants should
    be open and cater to the public till the time the awards are announced; the restaurants should have all appropriate food licences and clearances that are a must from the government authorities; and, the food prepared and delivered to the customers at the participating restaurants should be hygienic at all costs.
    An esteemed panel of industry leaders and experts would constitute the jury, which will undertake a rigorous multi-stage process of pre-scoring to determine shortlists, monitor SMS voting by the public, mystery shopping, before a judging the entries to decide the winners.
    The awards function will also witness the launch of a Sunday Card, which is a Shopping, Holiday & Dining Card) at the function. With the Sunday Card customers could avail of the opportunity to spend a free night at any of the lavish hotels and resorts listed in the Sunday Card official website. On presenting the Sunday Card at any of these listed shopping centres, hotels and resorts, customers will be able to get lucrative discounts and competitive pricing.
