As part of 2022 Brain Awareness Week, the International Brain Research Organisation (IBRO) has chosen Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) as the venue of their activities. The Brain Awareness Week programmes will be convened at the Centre for Neuroscience on CUSAT campus, Kalamassery, to educate high school students about the importance of having a healthy brain.
The Centre of Neuroscience will also train and equip around 100 high school teachers in Kochi Corporation to reach the younger generation. At least one volunteer teacher (preference to biology teachers) is expected from each school to attend the training session. Free training and classes on brain health improvement exercises will be provided to school students from selected 100 schools as part of the Brain Awareness Week observed from March 14 to 20, 2022.
Painting contest for schoolkids
As a part of the events, the Centre for Neuroscience is organising a painting competition for school children on the theme ‘Healthy Brain; Healthy Society’. Any student under 17 years of age studying in Kerala is eligible to participate in the online competition. The last date to send paintings is March 15, 2022. The first prize winner will receive a cash award of Rs 10,000. The second and third prize winners will get Rs 3000 and Rs 1000 respectively.
