EMERGENZ 2022, the largest Emergency Conclave in Asia, being organised by Aster MIMS Kozhikode, started at various places in Malabar region.
The pre-conference workshop on ‘Neonatal Resuscitation Program: a workshop teaching Emergency Life Saving concepts for Newborns’ was held at Aster MIMS Kozhikode and ‘Rhythm – Practical ECG Workshop; at Kottakal Aster MIMS on Wednesday (May 25). These workshops was organised to help both doctors and nurses to get acquainted with dangerous ECGs and to treat accordingly.
The Epigon-Emergency care Workshop on basic life saving skills was held at Anamaya Hospital, Payyanur, Kannur and at Korambayil Hospital, Manjeri. ‘Safe I3’ workshop on Safe Infusion Practice and Infection Control was held at PSMA Memorial Cooperative Hospital, Malappuram and MK Haji Orphanage Hospital, Thirurangadi and continue on Thursday (May 26).
Erimia – Workshop on Wilderness Medicine, first of its kind in the country was held at Mooppans Medical College, Wayanad. This workshop created an awareness on medical emergencies in austere environments and its effective management with limited resources. This includes wild animal attack, heat and cold emergencies, animal bites and so on.
The workshops on ‘Point of care ultrasound, aero medical transport workshop, Toxicology workshop, Disaster management workshop and Procedural sedation will be held at various hospitals in Kozhikode on Thursday (May 26). An exclusive workshop on trauma will also be held at MASTER Mother hospital, Areekode on Thursday (May 26).
Scientific sessions and classes will be held at Hotel Tripenta, Kozhikode from May 27 to 29. Thirteen workshops, two-stream scientific sessions, keynote sessions, special streams for emergency medicine staff and paramedical staff, various scientific competitions like oral presentation, poster presentation and quiz, scenario based discussion, problem solving and decision making, CPR competition, cultural evening, Banquet will be part of the Conclave.
As part of the Conclave awareness programmes were conducted at various parts of Malabar to make them understand about the emergency life-saving measures. Emergency medicine is one of the most advanced disciplines in modern medicine and Aster MIMS have been instrumental in introducing and leading the growth of this medical speciality in India.
