New Delhi: Shops, malls and cinemas in the country will soon operate 24 hours, throughout the year.The Union Cabinet has cleared the ‘Model Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Bill 2016’, making way for changes in the operations of commercial establishments.
Another groundbreaking provision is that women can be engaged for work in night shifts, with adequate security, rest rooms and conveyance.
The bill is introduced with a claim that it can effectively boost employment in the country, and give women the opportunity to work at night, commercial establishments may force women to do so against their choice.
