Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Kerala State president Anu Chacko urged President Ram Nath Kovind to discharge RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav from Rajendra Institute of Medicial Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi and allow to undergo treatment at his residence considering the serious situation the country is facing.

Latest reports says that in the state capital of Jharkhand, an elderly man admitted to a ward in RIMS has tested positive for Covid-19. This ward was under the care of Dr Umesh Prasad, who is the head of medicines at RIMS and also attends to Lalu Prasad Yadav in his private ward.
The patient who recently tested positive, has been undergoing treatment at the RIMS. RIMS administration said that samples of all its doctors, nursing staff and the cleaning staff will be tested for Covid-19. They will also have to observe quarantine, she said
Lalu Prasad Yadav was admitted to RIMS after his conviction in various cases related to the Fodder Scam. He was shifted to RIMS after he complained to the jail authorities, seeking better medical care. Yadav also has hypertension, diabetes and heart ailments. His kidney functions only between 40 to 50 per cent of its capacity.
Medical experts have maintained that patients with diabetes need to take extra care of themselves in light of the Covid-19 outbreak. Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family is extremely concerned about him, Anu Chacko said.
