KOCHI:
Vice Chancellor Dr K N Madhusoodanan distributed Distinguished Young Faculty/ Researcher awards of Cochin University of Science And Technology, two teachers and four research scholars of the university at a function held at the seminar complex auditorium.
Dr Aneesh V Pillai and Dr Abhilash S received the awards in the Distinguished Young Faculty category and Jayant G, Aneesa P Alikunju, Bhavya Kachiprat and Jayachandran P R received the awards in the researchers category. “Giving appreciation and encouragement to the hardworking young faculty members and researchers will boost their confidence and motivate them to be more efficient in their field of work”, said Dr Madhusoodanan.
“The new era needs integrated research methodology that combines different topics. University aims to collaborate with internationally acclaimed institutions and to further link the academic sector of the university with industry. The university is trying to create a new academic culture”, Vice Chancellor added.
“Efforts are on to bring CUSAT to the top ten universities in the country and make it an internationally
recognized institution” Vice Chancellor disclosed. Pro Vice- Chancellor Dr. P G Sankaran presided over the function. Syndicate Member Dr. R Sasidharan, Registrar Dr. K Ajitha, Director of CUSAT IQAC Dr K Girish Kumar also spoke. The best young teachers were awarded with Rs. 30,000 and citation while researchers were presented with. Rs. 20,000 and citation.
The selection of distinguished young faculty was based on the research excellence of teachers under the age of 45. The selection was taken by an expert panel comprising K P B Moosad, NPOL, Former CUSAT PVC Dr. K. Paulose Jacob, CMFRI. Principal Scientist Dr. K. Sunil Muhammad, CUSAT Retd. Professors. Dr. A. Krishnamurthy and Dr. K.P. Sankaranarayanan.
