THRISSUR:
The Bypass Protein Plant of Kerala Feeds Ltd will be inaugurated by Minister for Forest, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development K Raju, at the KFL plant at Kallettumkara in the district on February 18 (Monday).
The plant has been set up as part of the diversification projects of KFL, the leading state-run cattle feed production undertaking, with the aim of producing highly nutrient feed by enhancing protein quality and content in cattle meals. The bypass protein technology for the plant is provided by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), which has standardised and commercialised it.
Bypass protein meals can minimise degradation of feed in the rumen, the first and foremost compartment in the stomach of the dairy animal. These protected meals are digested more efficiently and results in extra protein being available for milk production by helping the dairy animal to produce more milk of optimum quality.
“This high grade feed will come as boon to dairy farmers in the state. They will be getting high quality cattle feed for their money, which will keep the animals healthy and productive”, said Dr B Sreekumar, MD, KFL.
Prof K U Arunan MLA will preside over the function and C N Jayadevan MP will be the chief guest. K S Indusekharan Nair, Chairman, KFL, Dr B Sreekumar, MD KFL, District Panchayat President Mary Thomas and District Collector T V Anupama will attend the function, to be held at KFL factory premises at 2 pm.
