Ernakulam constituency candidate Hibi Eden points out that the blessings of people who were denied of fair justice will strengthen the fight against injustice.
Hibi Eden was speaking at Paravoor constituency as part of the election campaign after visiting Sreejith’s family. Hibi Eden along with Paravoor MLA V D Satheeshan and other UDF leaders assured that all support will be provided to Sreejith’s family in the legal fight against the actions of the policemen.
While speaking at the occasion Hibi Eden said that, custodial deaths are a never-ending tale since LDF government came to power and he will work relentlessly to secure justice for hundreds of people like Sreejith who were denied of it. MLA V D Satheeshan alleged that death of Sreejith is as a result of CPM and Police conspiracy and the explanation for such an action should be brought to light.
Sreejith’s arrest by Ernakulam Rural SP Special Squad was a case of mistaken identity and as a result of the torture of policemen Sreejith passed away on April 9th, 2018 in a hospital. Sreejith’s death sparked public outrage and alleged that Sreejith was tortured by policemen as per the instruction of the CPM leaders during that tenure.
Numerous custodial deaths and torture has been reported since the LDF government came to power in 2016. Kevin’s murder in Kottayam, death of Unais in Edakkad, death of Vinayakan in Thrissur, death of Kunjumon in Kollam Kundara, custodial death of Tamil Nadu native Kalimuthu, Murder of Abdul Latheef in Vandoor Police Station are just a few among many.
