RJD Plays an Important Role in Opposition: Anu Chacko

Anu Chacko, National General Secretary of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), said that the party is playing a major role to hold the opposition parties together in contemporary India, where democracy and the constitution are under constant attack.

Lalu Prasad Yadavji, a disciple of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan, played an unforgettable role in the formation and growth of the RJD India Front, a socialist movement built in Bihar. Formed on July 5, 1997, the RJD has carried out democratic tasks in Bihar both in the government and in the opposition.

If the counsels of Lalu Prasad Yadav, the epitome of political diplomacy, are to be valued, the Indian alliance will not have to wait long to gain strength and come to power. All secular forces should be ready to follow the democratic socialist tradition of RJD.

RJD is a party that has never reconciled with BJP. Anu Chacko expressed hope that RJD’s political model would lead other parties to India to remain a secular democratic country and the constitution would not be weakened.
