VIJAYAWADA:
Nearly 80 farmer leaders from various spice growing regions of Andhra Pradesh will converge at the Buyer Seller meet scheduled by the Regional Office of the Spices Board , Guntur on 18th September 2018 at Taj Gateway Hotel in Vijayawada.
Spices farmers growing black pepper and turmeric in the Agency area of Araku Valley and Paderu, growers of tamarind from various mandals of Ananthapur district, growers of ajwain, coriander, curry leaves, chillies and turmeric from Kurnool, Cuddappah, Prakasam and Guntur districts will make their impressive presence with capacities and potentials before over 30 spices exporters and processors from across the country.
Spices Board is actively involved in the market linkage process of over 50,000 chillies and turmeric farmers using the e-Spice Bazaar Traceability portal in association with the Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. Currently the spices like Tamarind, Curry leaves, Ajwain and Coriander are being focussed as alternative crops for the spice farmers. The Board is also into trying out cultivation of new crops in feasible areas too.
The Buyer Seller meet is aimed at enabling market linkages for the spice farmers of Andhra Pradesh. The meet will be inaugurated by the State Minister of Agriculture, Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy. The meeting will be presided over by Vijaywada MP, Kesneni Srinivas, AP Horticulture Commissioner, Chiranjiv Chaudhary and the Vijayawada East MLA, G. Rammohan Rao.
