KOCHI:
For young Aman Yahya, this summer has been a season for initiation into the fascinating world of art as he learnt a lot of essential things about painting by attending the 10-day camp for children organised by Kochi Biennale Foundation ( KBF).
“I am learning many things about art, its forms and media and techniques for the first time and it is exciting. Origami and clay modelling were a few among them” said Yahya, a seventh grade student of Delta Study, Fort Kochi.
The Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF) had conceived and structured the camp as a platform to help children to have free play of their creative talent and imagination through the guidance of practising artists. The artists who volunteered as trainers for the camp included Anto George, Nishad MP, Kunjikuttan Narayanan, Vipin Dhanurdharan and Jaya P S.
“Though we are teaching the children many things, the main objective is to engage them freely. It’s not the output we care about but how they are indulging themselves in the process” said Vipin. The first batch of children attended the camp from May 2 to 11 and the second batch from May 13 to 22, with a total of over 50 students including both the batches, some of whom attending it for the second time.
The Summer Camp, a part of the Art By Children programme, was supported by Pepper House.
