Environment Day Activities of IndianOil

As part of World Environment Day, IndianOil piloted massive Tree Plantation Drives across its locations, gifted free saplings to customers, conducted Free Pollution Check Up camps and engaged in various green initiatives.
The camp was inaugurated by S.Senthil Kumar, Executive Director (Regional Services), Southern Region, and R.Sitharthan, Executive Director, IndianOil, Tamil Nadu State Office in the presence of T.G.Nagarajan, Chief General Manager (Lubes), Tamil Nadu IndianOil. This camp is conducted every year to promoTree Plantation at villagete awareness and emphasise on the importance of clean environment. The Free Vehicle Pollution Check Up camp at IndianOil Bhavan, was open to four wheelers and two wheelers and around 66 vehicles were pollution checked by end of day.
Speaking on the occasion R.Sitharthan, Executive Director, IndianOil, Tamil Nadu State Office said that “Many of our locations like bottling plants and depots have been asked to undertake massive tree plantation drives, in addition to our petrol pumps and LPG distributors handing over saplings to our customers. What we lost in Cyclone Vardah needs to be regained slowly and steadily. These are few steps in that direction”.
“I am very happy to point out that, as a part of the Mass Tree plantation drive under CSR, a total of 18000 plants are being planted in three villages of Villiyavarambal, Koonancheri, and Thirubuvanam villages of Kumbakonam and Papanasam Taluks from today” he added.
The tree plantation drive was launched at Villiyavarambal of Kumbakonam taluk, Thanjavur District today by R.Kumar Block Development Officer/Block Panchayat, S.Karthikeyan Tahsildar, Revenue and Rural Development Officials in the presence of V.Lakshminarayanan, Sr. Plant Manager, Mannargudi Bottling Plant, IndianOil and villagers. 100 Saplings were planted by the volunteers and villagers on the occasion. Pradeep Kumar, Sub Collector has expressed his deep appreciation for the effort.
Sitharthan added “The best part of the Mass Tree Plantation Drive at our Mannargudi location is the fact that in line with “I am with Nature’ UNEP theme each plant is being connected/handed over to one volunteer (Students, local people, including LPG delivery boys). The volunteers who take complete responsibility and ensure sustainability of the plantations will be given a certificate of appreciation after 1 year to appreciate their efforts for each surviving plant!”. The plantation drive in the three villages shall continue under the supervision of the Sub-collectors office and IndianOil, Mannargudi Bottling Plant.
