KOCHI:
There was a collision between a merchant Vessel and fishing boat in the early morning hours of 11-6- 2017 resulting in casualties.
Presently, the ship is at the Anchorage of Cochin Port after completing bunker operations. Cochin Port Trust has denied permission to the vessel to sail out from the anchorage and has asked the enforcement agencies to ensure that the vessel does not leave the port.
The ship is anchored within the Port limits. Cochin Port is facilitating enquiry by DG Shipping and Coastal Police by providing Cochin Port’s Pilot boat. Cochin Port Trust has arranged two Pilot Boats to transport officials from Police, Customs, Immigration, DG (Shipping) and Coast Guard for carrying out inquiry on board the vessel MV AMBER L. The officials from Police, Customs, Immigration, DG (Shipping) and Coast Guard entered the ship by 10 AM today and carried out their inquiry proceedings. As Mercantile Marine Department (MMD) wanted another technician on-board, he was also transported to the Ship in the afternoon. The members from Immigration and Customs have completed their inquiries and returned to the shore by 4.30 PM. Other officials are continuing their verification. The investigating agencies are satisfied with the arrangements being made for facilitating the inquiry.
