Cochin Port Introduces On-line Berthing System

G.Senthilvel Chairman, Cochin Port Trust stated that the On-line Berthing System  for all the berths has been introduced from July 20, 2016 at Cochin Port in line with the directions of the Ministry of Shipping. This is as part of Ease of Doing business. After successful trial run, this On-line berthing system has been implemeChairman(4th from left) with Trustees and HoDs during the inauguration of new reachstackernted. Henceforth, the Port Users need not attend Berthing meetings at the Port and the Berths are allotted based on the on-line requests through e-mode. This not only increases transparency but saves the Users time by avoiding attending berthing meeting at the Port premises. Consequent to the implementation of this On-line Berthing System, the Port has stopped conducting berthing meetings.

New 45 Tonnes Reach Stacker inaugurated

G.Senthilvel Chairman inaugurated the operations of the newly  purchased a new Heavy Duty Reach Stacker on August 5th, 2016. This reach stacker is having maximum capacity of 45 tonnes, which can be used to handle containers stacked upto  5 levels high. This is a highly advanced equipment having facility of spreader rotation in 360 degrees, side shifting in both the directions and telescopic boom extension up to 19.5 metres. It can handle both 20’ and 40’containers. This is manufactured by Tractors India Limited Kolkata under technical collaboration with M/s Hyster of USA.Cost of this equipment is Rs.2,34,20,938.
y adding this equipment in the fleet, the containers handled at the CFS are serviced without any delay and with more efficiency. Also more availability of container handling equipments can be ensured to the trade especially in the CFS.
