THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Youngsters from Kerala who won accolades at World Skills 2019 at Kazan, Russia, are now inspiring a whole lot of ambitious youths to demonstrate their ability as the state-level winners in the ensuing India Skills Kerala 2020 could find a ticket for the national and international competitions.

Organized by Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence (KASE) under the Department of Labour & skills and Industrial Training Department, the multi-tier event this year has doubled the number of competitions, covering a wide range of vocational and non-vocational skills.

Combining his rare talent in draftsmanship with hard work and focus, Nidhin Prem from Ernakulam won the Medallion for Excellence in 3-D Game Art at Kazan. Nidhin is now working as a 3-D artist in a Pune-based company.

The achievement of Jibin Williams from Kuthiayathod in Alappuzha is equally inspiring. He picked up his skills from hands-on experience as a stage decorator, while doing Civil Draftsman’s course in ITI. As he went for training in Mumbai, he found an opportunity to fine-tune his craft by competing with florists from China, Russia and Thailand, which helped him pick up a job as florist in an event management company.

Participation in the Kazan event, where he stood fourth in Wall and Floor Tiling, proved to be a turning point for Muhammad Rabith from Malappuram, as it helped him to become the Skill Development Trainer in a major firm.

The success stories of youngsters from Kerala on the world stage at Kazan are inspiring the participants to put up creditable performances in the coming rounds of India Skills Kerala 2020 competitions.
