The six-month diploma is designed to teach hands-on skills in Fab Labs, which began as an outreach project from MIT’s Center for Bits and Atoms, and has since then grown into a global network of more than 500 labs.
Fab Academy’s syllabus is based on the MIT’s popular rapid-prototyping course ‘How to Make (almost) Anything’, taught by Prof. Neil Gershenfeld. Fablab Kerala had successfully hosted the Fab Academy programme in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. Both the labs witnessed a participation of 18 candidates in 2016 out of which 16 graduated. Likewise, of the 14 participants this year, 12 candidates graduated successfully.
Interested candidates can apply at http://fabacademy.org/application-form/. Last date is November 15.
Fab Academy has contributed more than 28 Fab experts from the State through this course over the last two years. They have been working abroad and in various States in the digital fabrication field.
The training at Fab Academy is instrumental in grooming youngsters of Kerala to become entrepreneurs and experts in new technology.
