New Merchant Shipping Bill in Coming Parliament Session: Deepak Shetty

A new merchant shipping bill to cater the interest of all stakeholders will be introduced in the next session of the Parliament, said Deepak Shetty, Director General of Shipping and Secretary , Ministry of Shipping. He added that the Directorate General of shipping will be fully digitalized within a short span of time.cusat
He was inaugurating the Maritime Research programme at KM School of Marine Engineering seminar hall. KM school of Marine Engineering is the first institution in the country to start a research programme in environmental protection. He exhorted the researchers to give priority in reducing the atmospheric pollution and ocean pollution from merchant ships. The research agenda should be in accordance with the strict regulations stipulated by the MARPOL convention of International Maritime organizations, he added.
