SiGNS 2016 to Sign off on Sunday

Curtains go down on the tenth edition of the SiGNS digital video festival on Sunday with a valedictory function that will see awards for the best short films and documentaries handed out.
The Mayor of Kochi Soumini Jain will preside over the closing ceremony – on at Ernakulam Tosigns1wn Hall from 5.30 pm – that will see Chelavoor Venu, Vice-President, Federation of Film Societies of India (FFSI) deliver the welcome address.
Following a primer on the FFSI and SiGNS, by V.K. Joseph, Executive Director, SiGNS, the festival report on SiGNS 2016 will be presented by Dr C.S. Venkiteswaran, Artistic Director.
A jury report by Chairperson Rakesh Sharma comes next, after which jury members Premendra Mazumdar and Smt Fowzia Fathima will make their comments.
The awards ceremony follows the function. The John Abraham Award for Best Malayalam Feature Film 2015 for P.S. Manu’s Munroe Thuruth and Special Mention awards for S. Sunil’s Marubhagam and Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s Ozhivudivasathe Kali will be handed out. This will be followed by the announcement of the SiGNS 2016 awards and the FFSI awards for best Malayalam short film and documentary respectively.
Awards under the categories: ‘Cinema of Resistance’, ‘Cinema of Experimenta’, Special Jury Awards and Special Jury Mention will also be announced.

Celebrated filmmakers K.G. George, Lenin Rajendran, K.R. Mohanan as also Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF) Secretary Riyas Komu and KBF Trustee Bonny Thomas will be the guests of honour on the evening.
SiGNS Festival Coordinator K.G. Mohankumar will deliver the vote of thanks.
