ALAPPUZHA:
Tucked away in a small town in this district, Techgentsia is an IT service provider that has been routinely facilitating internal video-conferencing sessions between the Kerala government and the Centre. All this from its premises in Pathirappally, which is the native place of the company’s owner Joy Sebastian.

Having come up with Vconsol for Android, iOS, Mac, Windows & Linux platforms made in India, the fully-integrated and enterprise-grade video-conferencing solution won the company the Bharat Innovation Challenge in 2020, surpassing 1,983 contestants and earning it national attention. Soon, the union government discontinued with the apps from foreign countries and substituted them with Vconsol.

Founded in 2009 and based six km north of Alappuzha, Techgentsia has also been assisting in research activities on the video-conferencing domains of companies in Europe and America besides Asia. Within the country, Vconcol is being used by establishments such as Kerala High Court, the state’s Election Commission, Comptroller and Auditor General, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Indian Plasma Research Institute and the Indian Navy.

Joy Sebstian,, who is CEO of Techgentsia he cofounded 15 years ago, attributes the support and guidance from Infopark Cherthala to the steady success of the company housed in Chaithanya building with a working space of 2.4 lakh square feet. “Infopark arranges special transport facilities to our employees from Vytilla near Kochi to Alappuzha and their return in the evenings,” he reveals, noting that the campus is in a quiet location. “As for the BPO category, we easily get employees at a more local level.”

Infopark Cherthala has scope for research and development activities, points out Kochi Infopark CEO Susanth Kurunthil, about the satellite campus. Housing 24 companies, it has 500-plus employees,” he says. “Once the ongoing work on the bridge from National Highway-66 gets over, Cherthala is set to become a satellite township of Kochi.”

Last year saw four companies setting up offices in Cherthala Infopark, generating 200 jobs.
