THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
The fifth edition of International Conclave on Skills, Engineering and Technology, ICSET 2021 organized by the ICT Academy of Kerala saw its curtain raised on March 15 th , Monday, on a virtual platform. The event was inaugurated by Dr. R A Mashelkar, a Padma Awardee, and Former Director-General of CSIR.
In his inaugural address, Dr. R A Mashelkar highlighted the importance of science and technology in the post covid times and the role of education in determining the future. We faced the ‘VUCA’ times, where things were Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous. He also introduced “Leap Frog to Pole Vaulting” the book authored by him, talks about the experiential inspiration for anything we do. He concluded his address by sharing with the delegates a unique Mantra that highlights Aspiration, Hard work, Purpose, Perseverance, and Passion to expand the windows of one’s dreams. He states that there is no limit to human achievement.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Tony Thomas, Chairman of the ICT Academy stressed the importance of digital technology and the gig economy in the new normal. He also pointed out the importance of specific micro-skills required for freelancing work as a part of the gig economy. The other panellists in the dais spoke regarding the technical skills which are inevitable especially in the 21 st century. Management.
William Sim, Vice-President of Trailhead Academy, Salesforce; Dr Rajasree MS, Vice-Chancellor of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University; Richard Antony, Head of Indian Operations, EY; Sujith Unni, the regional head of NASSCOM also attended the virtual event. Santhosh Kurup, CEO of ICT Academy welcomed and introduced the guests for the program and Dr Manoj A S, the conference chair of the program proposed the vote of thanks. The conclave shall continue on March 16 th as well with sessions led by experts from disciplines of IT, Engineering, and Management.
