As part of the Continuing Nutrition Education (CNE) for dietitians, a statelevel workshop on ‘Critical care nutrition & feeding devices’ was conducted in Lourdes Hospital as a joint venture of Dept. Of Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics, Lourdes hospital and Dept. Of Home Science, St. Teresa’s college, Ernakulam.
The workshop focused on Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition in critically ill patients along with demonstration of implementing the feeding devices. Lourdes hospital Director Fr. Sabu Nedunilath inaugurated the workshop and opined to be proud of hosting such a state level workshop for dietitians in a hospital set up for the first time in Kerala.
Critical care nutrition is as important as critical care medicine for effective patient recovery. The recent updates, guidelines as well as implementation methods of modern feeding devices were discussed in details by Bamini Murugesh, RD (Sundaram Medical Foundation, Chennai), Dr. A.J. Hemamalini, RD (Sree Ramachandra University, Chennai) and Sharmila Parthiban (Clinical Nutrition Trainer, Chennai).
The enthusiastic 150 participants included dietitians, nutrition professionals, critical care nurses
and aspiring nutritionists from different parts of Kerala.
