160th Anniversary Celebrations of Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry

The Cochin Chamber of Commerce & Industry is celebrating the completion of 160 years of service to trade and industry on Wednesday, 22 nd November, 2017 at the Waterfront Hall, Taj Gateway, Ernakulam.
Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu will be the Chief Guest on this occasion. Governor of Kerala, P Sathasivam and Dr. K T Jaleel, Minister for Local Self Governments, Welfare of Minorities, Wakf and Haj Pilgrimage, Government of Kerala,will be the Guests of Honour. The Cochin Chamber of Commerce & Industry, established in the year 1857, completes 160 years of service to the region’s commerce, industry and trade – this year.
This Chamber, one of the oldest Chambers of Commerce in the country, is a Promoter Chamber of the
Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham), New Delhi, the oldest national Chamber in the country. The activities of the Chamber have undergone several changes over the years in keeping with the changing times and needs so as to provide prompt and effective services to its membership and the business community at large.
Since the very beginning, the Chamber has been involved in the advancement of several public causes in the State apart from the routine Chamber activities. History records that the setting up of the Cochin Port was a
result of active inputs from the Cochin Chamber. In recent times the Chamber also played a significant role in the conceptualization of the Cochin International Airport and moving the idea forward in its early stages.
