22nd Biennial Conference of the International Society for Comparative Physical Education and Sport

The 22 nd Biennial Conference of the International Society for Comparative Physical Education and Sport (ISCPES) jointly organized by Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education and Sports Authority of India commenced on November 1 st at O ​​By Tamara, Thiruvananthapuram. This is the first time India is
hosting the conference. Delegates from 29 countries including global experts and researchers in the field of sports are participating in the conference. The main theme of this conference is Sports and Physical Education: During and after the Pandemic.

The Conference started with the Keynote address by Dr, G Kishore, SAI LNCPE Principal & Regional Head on the topic Revitalizing Physical Education : Adopting to the Pandemic and shaping the future in India. In the session he detailed how SAI LNCPE has reshaped the future of Physical education by introducing the concept of e-Khel Pathshala where more than 75,000 physical educators were benefited. SAI LNCPE got appreciated worldwide for the same.

He also emphasized the role of technology in redesigning the physical education and sports. Instillation of movement education as an extension of Physical education was conceptualized. Strategies for revitalization of physical education such as supporting physical activity, research and policy guidance,
technical co-operation and capacity development, outreach and awareness building, promoting positive social attitude and behaviour should be adopted all over the world.

Prof. Dr. H. Haag, M.S., Emeritus Professor, University of Kiel, Germany, former President of ISCPES delivered Keynote address on Conceptual Framework for
the Function of ISCPES in the world of sport Education and sport Science about dimensions of practical reality in sports such as taxonomy, movement
competence and systems-theory aspects. He also put forward the different key points for research methodologies to be practised along the physical education arena all over the world. The third keynote address was delivered by Prof. Youn Shin Nam, Professor, Sports Science Department, Duksung Women’s University, South Korea on which she described about Active Living and Social Development: The Strategies, Development & Practice in Korea. Twenty Research papers which covered Physical Education strategies at different parts of the world, post Covid19 challenges in Physical Education and different aspects of sports performance were presented in the Conference.

A panel discussion on Managing Quality Physical education- from Theory to Practice was also conducted with panellists Prof. Rosa Lopez de D’Amico,
Prof. Usha Nair, Prof. Walter Ho. The session was chaired by Prof. Branislav Antala, Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. The panellists concluded
the idea of shared vision of well being of community, development of independent individual and teachers training are the basics of quality physical
education.

The Conference is jampacked academic extra vaganza with over forty presentations from world renounced speakers and research scholars. Opening ceremony of the conference will be on 02.11.2023 at 10:30am. The Conference will continue till 3 rd November 2023.
