Kozhikode: A poor Malayali nursing student is undergoing treatment for critical injury at Kozhikode Medical College, following brutal ragging by senior Malayali girls at the Al Qamar College of Nursing School in Gulbarga, Karnataka.
She was allegedly forced to drink toilet cleaner by eight senior girls when she resisted their attempts to disrobe her as part of ragging. This left her with serious injuries to her esophagus. Though she was hospitalised for five days in Bangalore, her condition did not improve.
The girl, belonging to a poor dalit family, had joined the college five months ago, after availing a loan of Rs 4 lakhs.
Relatives alleged that senior girls had been harassing her for some time.
