August 19, 2016

KOZHIKODE:
Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, was in Kozhikode on the 13th of August, at a function held by Qazi Foundation on their foundation day. He inaugurated a website designed for Qazi Foundation by Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) students. This website houses the concept of a Heritage Walk of Kozhikode proposed by IIMK by linking a 1.5 km stretch in Kuttichira area, which covers the heritage architecture from 10th century and beyond. This Heritage Walk is reminiscent of the religious unity of Hindus & Muslims of the times of Zamorins. Several other dignitaries of Calicut were present at the auditorium of Hotel Calicut Toiimkwer for the function.
The concept of the Heritage Walk and the Website was proposed and developed as a part of the Social Development Project (SDP) of the Post Graduate Program (PGP) of IIMK. The project was mentored by Prof. Sumit Mitra of IIMK, who was present with Prof. Anubha Shekhar Sinha (coordinator of SDP) and students of PGP-19 batch viz. Madhur, Meghna, Manish, Yarshin, Jigish and Naman, on the occasion.
IIM-K has always treaded a different course than most management schools in the way it values, encourages and embraces the principles of gender equity, social inclusion and greater social relevance in its curriculum and pedagogy. In line with these, IIMK has a course on engaging with the social sector namely, Social Development Project (SDP). SDP offers a platform for management students to deploy their theoretical learning of various streams of management viz. strategy, operations, marketing, finance and HR in solving practical problems on live projects in the social sector.
