DP World Cochin Maintains Growth Rate of 25%

Global trade enabler DP World operated India Gateway Terminal Pvt. Ltd. registered another record breaking performance in October 2017. The terminal listed a new accomplishment by handling more than 51,000 TEU in a month.
This growth is due to the rise in cargo traffic from the hinterland of Tamil Nadu which consists of cargo like coir, coco peat, garments, activated carbon and various machinery. The terminal witnessed a 25% growth in volume in October 2017 compared to its performance in October 2016 and further establishing its position as the terminal of choice in the South India market.

These have resulted in an increase in the movement of commodities from the Tamil Nadu hinterland to rest of the world.”
DP World Cochin serves as the natural gateway to the vast industrial and agricultural produce markets of the South and West of India.The terminal hosts three direct sailings to the Middle East, and four sailings to Colombo per week. Through its strong feeder network, it is well connected to other Indian ports on both coasts, including Mundra, Pipavav, Nhava Sheva, Goa, Mangalore, Tuticorin, Chennai and Visakhapatnam.
With enhanced volumes and the feeder network the terminal boasts, shipping lines are evaluating new mainline services at Cochin which will further improve connectivity to global markets. Currently through its mainline service, Cochin is connected to Australia, Europe, Mediterranean, Fareast and Southeast Asia.
