Ecofriendly Onam Gift from BKRG

BKRG – Better Kochi Response Group launched an eco friendly Onam gift to the city of Kochi to commemorate the planting of 25000 fruit and plants trees within three months, under the Kochikkoru Pachakuda projesaplingct that has set itself an ambitious target of 100,000 trees in one year.
Actor Salim Kumar planted the 25000th tree at his residence ‘Laughing Villa ‘. He also launched the distribution of 1000 kits to the residents of the local area.
All the kits with the plants are prepared in a bio- degradable grow bag are given free . BKRG has been overwhelmed by the response from those who seek the plants , as well as those sponsors who have come forward to meet the costs of this unique project.
The Kochikkoru Pachakuda project and hopes to make tree planting a people’s movement and seeks the support of the community to bring back the green glory of Kochi city. “Kochi is a fast growing city and we want it to become a model Smart city, as well as a Green city” , said S Gopakumar, Architect, the President of BKRG. The function was attended by Swami Samvidanand, the founder of Greenvein and the organisation providing the plants who indicated that the kits will be available at various points in the city during Onam. The nutrient soil mix and the Grow Bags are all provided by  Sterling Farms.
