The Mumbai local trains on the Central line were delayed by 15 minutes beyond Kalyan due to foggy weather on Wednesday morning
Central Railway’s chief public relations officer Dr Shivraj Manaspure stated that foggy weather was reported between Vashind and Titwala on the Central line from 6.30 am to 9 am and between Karjat (in Raigad district) and Badlapur (Thane) from 5.30 am to 9 am.
“Hence, the main line suburban trains were running late by 15 minutes,” the CPRO said.
The local trains are considered the lifeline of Mumbai. It ferries around 35 lakh commuters on a daily basis in Mumbai’s Central Railway (CR) network.
The CR’s main line service operates on the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus-Kasara (from south Mumbai to Thane) and CSMT-Khopoli (south Mumbai to Raigad) routes.
Meanwhile, as per the SAMEER app, the Air Quality Index (AQI) of Navi Mumbai was reported to be in the ‘poor’ category on Wednesday morning, which showcases the AQI mapped by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Navi Mumbai reported ‘poor’ air quality with AQI of 223.
Mumbai’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 194, in the ‘moderate’ category, around 8 am and Thane’s AQI stood at 164, in the ‘moderate’ category.
In Navi Mumbai, of the seven stations, the Kopripada-Vashi area reported ‘very poor’ air quality with AQI at 305. Nerul showcased ‘poor’ category as AQI ranged between 212 and 278. Further, the Mahape, and Taloja areas in Navi Mumbai logged ‘moderate’ air quality.
An Air Quality Index (AQI) rating of zero to 50 is categorized as ‘good,’ 51 to 100 as ‘satisfactory,’ 101 to 200 as ‘moderate,’ 201 to 300 as ‘poor,’ 301 to 400 as ‘very poor,’ and 401 to 500 as ‘severe.’
