Global Monsoon Rheumatology Summit at Kochi

KOCHI:
The Global Monsoon Summit of the Rheumatology specialists will be conducted at Kochi on 20, 21 and 22 of July.
Dr. Debashish Danda, president of Indian Rheumatology Association, will inaugurate the monsoon summit at Hotel Grand Hyatt, Bolgatty. Dr. LeongKhai Pang, president of Singapore Rheumatology Association, and Dr. Adeeba Al-Herz, president of Kuwait Association for Rheumatology (KAR), will attend the inaugural ceremony.
More than 400 Rheumatologists from various countries like America, Canada, UK, Singapore, Europe and GCC will participate in the 3 day summit. Papers on global researches on Rheumatology, studies, betterment of job opportunities, interchange of new innovations in the field and awareness will be presented at the summit, said Dr. Padmanabha Shenoy, founder of Center for Rheumatism Excellence (Dr. Shenoy’s CARE), Nettoor, and Rheumatologist Ambassador of Asia Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology, at the press meet.
Scleroderma is a group of autoimmune diseases that may result in changes to the skin, blood vessels, muscles, and internal organs. It commonly affects women between the ages of 30 and 50. Statistics shows that 35% to 40% of the patients die within 5 years of Scleroderma disease. More than 4 lakh patients are there in India itself.
Spondyloarthritis is a type of arthritis that attacks the spine and, in some people, the joints of the arms and legs. It can also involve the skin, intestines and eyes. Seen more in men, this should be identified and treated in the initial stage. Statistics shows that there are more than 1 crore Spondyloarthritis patients in India.
Global Monsoon Rheumatology Summit aims to integrate the initiatives to find remedies to cure Scleroderma and Spondyloarthritis. A get together of Scleroderma patients is also arranged as part of the summit. Dr. Shenoy said that many hopeful innovations for the patients in India would be presented at the Monsoon Summit.
