IEEE, GTech Job Fair And IGNITE Internship At Infopark

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Kerala Section in collaboration with IEEE in collaboration with Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission by K-DISC, NIELIT Calicut, and Mulearn wing of Group of Technology Companies (GTech), a conglomerate of IT companies hosted Launchpad Kerala, the second IEEE job fair at Infopark, Kochi. Along with this, an internship fair was held as part of IGNITE Internship Programme, a Government aided six-month internship programme in association with the various companies in the three IT Parks i.e., Technopark Thiruvananthapuram, Infopark Kochi, and Cyberpark Kozhikode.

Rathan U Kelkar IAS, Secretary, Electronics & IT Department, Govt of Kerala was the chief guest. The welcome address was delivered by IEEE Kerala Section Industry Relations Chair Dr. Bijoy Antony Jose and IEEE Kerala Section Student Activities Chair Shone Jose gave the vote of thanks. IEEE Kerala Section Immediate Past Chair Mini Ulanat, GTech Execom Member and Calpine Group CEO Jijo John, Infopark Administration Manager Regi K Thomas, and Nandakumar R, Scientist/ Engineer, Nielit Calicut were also present at the inaugural function.

Rathan U Kelkar IAS said, “We’re looking at the IT Department to groom people coming from universities and colleges and make them market ready with finishing schools, internships, and various Government programs such as the IGNITE internship programme and Launchpad Kerala where we assist the job aspirants to find their way through.”

Around 400 candidates were shortlisted by 12 companies who attended the drive at Infopark. About 90% of the candidates, who were part of the recently concluded pilot edition of IGNITE Internship Programme, have already secured jobs in various IT/ITES companies.
