Minister Chinchurani Gives Away Dairy Awards

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development J Chinchurani today gave away the awards for the Best Dairy Cooperative Societies and Best Dairy Farmers, instituted by Thiruvananthapuram Regional Co-operative Milk Producers Union (TRCMPU) of Milma, here.

Chinchurani also inaugurated the insurance scheme for cattle on the occasion. The awards are instituted to motivate the dairy cooperatives and farmers to adopt the best practices on the lines of the highly successful Anand Pattern in dairy sector.

Antony Raju, MLA, presided over the function. TRCMPU Chairman Mani Viswanath welcomed the gathering.

D Sureshkumar, President, District Panchayat, Thiruvananthapuram; Dr P Muraly, MD, TRCMPU and Director Board Members W R Ajith Singh, K Krishnan Potti, M Krishnankutty, K R Mohanan Pillai, P G Vasudevan Unni, J Mehar, Mundappalli Thomas, P V Beena, Ayaparambu Ramachandran and T K Prathula Chandran were also present.

TRCMPU’s award for the Best Dairy Cooperative Society of the region went to Uchakkada Ksheera Ulpadaka Cooperative Society (KUCS) in Thiruvananthapuram. Winners in other districts: Kottara KUCS (Kollam); Vallikunnam KUCS (Alappuzha) and Vechoochira KUCS (Pathanamthitta).

Saju J S from Uchakada KUCS in Thiruvananthapuram was adjudged the Best Dairy Farmer while Valsala, Vallikunnam KUCS, Alappuzha, won the Best Dairy Farmer in women category.

Reetha Vijayan (Kalliyoor) won the Best Young Dairy Farmer Award. In district-level, V J Abhilash (Kollam), Shihabudheen (Alappuzha), and Litty Binoy (Pathanamthitta) are the Best Dairy Farmer Award winners.

Kottakkakom KUCS, Thiruvananthapuram, was honoured for supplying milk with highest compositional quality. In district-level, Palliman KUCS (Kollam); Thamarakkulam East KUCS (Alappuzha) and Othera East KUCS (Pathanamthitta) are the other winners in this segment.
