KARUNAGAPPALLY:
Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development J Chinchurani today inaugurated Kollam district’s first ‘Milma Food Truck’ rolled out by the Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (TRCMPU) of Milma at the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) depot here.
All the products of Milma are available in the ‘Milma Food Truck,’ set up by TRCMPU in association with KSRTC.
In her inaugural address, Chinchurani said ‘Milma Food Truck’ is an excellent project that will help popularize new products of Milma. The state government has plans to implement more projects for the well-being of dairy farmers and dairy sector.
C R Mahesh, MLA, presided over the function. Kottayil Raju, Municipal Chairman, Karunagappally, made the first sale.
‘Milma Food Truck’, which is parked at the entrance of the KSRTC depot, was made by converting an old bus into a customized truck. The seats have been replaced by chairs and tables for the customers to sit and relish snacks and refreshments. One side of the freshly-painted bus has been covered fully by glass.
N Bhasurangan, Convener, Administrative Committee, TRCMPU, in his welcome address, said in order to make all Milma products available to the public, such food trucks will be set up in more depots in collaboration with KSRTC.
TRCMPU Administrative Committee Members K.R. Mohanan Pillai, and V. S. Padmakumar; and C.K. Ratnakaran, ATO, KSRTC Depot, Karunagappally, were also present.
Later in the evening, J Chinchurani also inaugurated the 3KL Curd Plant and Solar Energy Plant set up at Kollam Dairy. Bhasurangan presided over the function, which was attended by TRCMPU Administrative Committee Member Mohanan Pillai.
B Shailaja, Ward Councillor, Thevally; S Prasannakumar, General Secretary, INTUC; A.R. Sinu, General Secretary, CITU; and M.R. Sanal Kumar, General Secretary, AITUC, were also present.
In both the functions, D.S. Konda, MD, TRCMPU, presented the reports and Dr R.K. Samuel, Senior Manager, Kollam Dairy, proposed a vote of thanks.
