Shadiya’s love for her child knew no bounds, when Ein Amani, the newborn of Shadiya was diagnosed with a deadly condition called Biliary Atresia, turning their happiness into tears. However, Shadiya was willing to do whatever it took to save her baby, even if it meant traveling to the ends of the earth. This heart-wrenching journey became a beautiful story of rekindling love and hope when Aster Medcity helped them through their exceptional medical expertise and compassionate care. Biliary Atresia is a disease of the liver and bile ducts that occurs in infants and can lead to liver failure if left untreated.
Shadiya, a doctor by profession, and her husband Muhammad Sherin, an aircraft maintenance engineer, observed concerning symptoms of biliary atresia in Ein Amani immediately after her birth. Ein Amani is the second girl child of the natives of Malappuram, settled in Abu Dhabi. Shadiya sought immediate medical help in Abu Dhabi. However, the initial treatments did not yield the desired results, determined to find the best medical care available, Shadiya embarked on a journey to seek the most advanced treatments for Ein Amani. Her love and devotion led her to Aster Medcity in Kochi, Kerala, where she believed she would find the solution to give her child a fighting chance.
Under the expert guidance of Dr. Mathew Jacob, Senior Consultant in Hepato Pancreato Biliary & Abdominal Multi-Organ Transplant at Aster Medcity, the medical team recommended liver transplantation as the only viable option for Ein Amani’s survival. Demonstrating tremendous love and sacrifice, Shadiya willingly volunteered and fearlessly stepped forward to be the liver donor for her precious child. A portion of the Liver was retrieved from Shadiya through laparoscopic procedure before the transplantation. Later the open surgery procedure was performed successfully on Ein Amani, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their emotional journey.
