National Education Policy on Architecture Education; National Symposium Begins

A two-day National Symposium organized under the auspices of the Council of Architecture on National Education Policy in Architect Education has started at the Vyttila Azadi Architecture College Campus. Film director Adoor Gopala Krishnan inaugurated the symposium online at Koothambalam on the campus. Adoor Gopalakrishnan said in the inaugural speech that this is a very important period for architecture in social life. Architecture is a field that is close to life. Adoor Gopalakrishnan said that he appreciates the Council of Architecture and Azadi for organizing such a seminar.

President of Council of Architecture India, Prof. Abhay Purohit, who presided over the function, said that as part of the National Education Policy, major changes are going to take place in the field of architecture studies for the betterment of architecture students and professionals. The field of architecture in India will become a world-class field. In the coming era, no professional educational institution will exist only for studying a particular course. He said that the institution will survive only if all kinds of professional courses of interest to the students are started instead. Azadi Chairman Senior Architect Prof. BR Ajith, COA TRC Director Prof. Jayashree Deshpande and others gave speeches.Dr. Shakila Shamsu, Dr. Babu Rajeshwaran, Prof. Pushkar Kanvinde, Dr. A Srivathsan, Dr. Ujwala Chakradeo , Prof. J Manoharan, Dr. Sanjeev Singh, Prof. Jayashree Desh Pandey, Dr. Manoj Kini spoke in various technical sessions.

On the second day Dr. Chris Johnson, Dr. Sunil Dubey (Australia), Prof. Milind Kollegal, Prof. Kenny P Joy will speak in various sessions. This will be followed by the 3rd anniversary celebration of the National Education Policy. The function will begin at 12 noon and former UN and US Ambassador TP Srinivasan will be the chief guest. Azadi alumnus and winner of this year’s state award for best actress, Vincy Aloysius will be felicitated in the function. There will also be a workshop for the delegates led by Dr. Binu Mol Tom.
