KOCHI:
A visual feast of multicolour lamps is set to deck up the Marine Drive stretch and vicinity for a week from this Saturday, as Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas will inaugurate a ‘Light Show’ that will usher in New Year celebrations in the city.
Named ‘Illuminating Joy, Spreading Harmony’, the December 30-January 5 event by the state government will open with a ceremony in the sunset. Industry and Law Minister P. Rajeev will preside over the function. Kochi Mayor M. Anilkumar will be the chief guest. Others on the dais will be legislator T.J. Vinod, District Collector N.S.K. Umesh, Tourism Director P.B. Nooh, GCDA Chairman K. Chandran Pillai and Department of Tourism Joint Director Hussain M., besides Corporation Councillors Padmaja Menon, Manu Jacob and Mini Dileep.
The event, which will be the first of its kind in Ernakulam district, has been conceived with a view to celebrate life as one more year passes by and 2024 arrives. Visitors, with friends and family, can walk along the seaside pathway, taking in the spirit of hope and joy.
