Nish to Screen Visual Representation of Mahatma’s Bhajans

In a rare tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary, National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH) has come out with a visual representation of the favorite bhajans of the Father of the Nation in Indian Sign Language (ISL).

The release and inaugural screening of the Bhajan CD, ‘Sathyameva Jayathe’, will be held at a function at Gandhi Park, East Fort, on the Gandhi Jayanthi day on Wednesday, from 6 to 6.30 p m. Sheeba George, Executive Director, NISH, will dedicate the Video CD at the ceremony. Dr K G Satheesh Kumar, Director CATI, Nish, will receive the CD.

The Video CD carries visual representation of the favourite Bhajans of the Mahatma, like Vishnav Janato (Narsinh Mehta), Ekla Chalore (Rabindranath Tagore) and Raghupathi Raghav Rajaram (Lakshmanacharya).

“This is a tribute by deaf students of NISH to the Father of the Nation on his 150th birth anniversary, by bestowing the art of silence through the favourite bhajans of Gandhiji on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of the Father of our Nation,” said Dr Satheesh Kumar.

A painting demonstration on Gandhi by Robin, Anup and Balu has also been arranged to mark the occasion.The programme is planned by the Centre for Media Development and Communication& Bachelor of Fine Arts Department of NISH.
