Oushadha Biksha Yatra Gets Rousing Reception in Malappuram

MALAPPURAM:
The ongoing Oushadha Biksha Yatra received a rousing reception when it reached Sree Thirumandhamkunnu Temple at Malappuram today.
The unique road show, rolled out from Sreedhareeyam Oushadheswari temple at Koothattukulam in a specially designed vehicle carrying the idol of Oushadeshwari (Goddess of Wellness) on June 27, also toured through several the temples in Malappuram on Saturday. Devotees poured in from far and wide to join the tradition of offering Thriphala and Ghee as alms ( Biksha), which will go into the making of special Ayurvedic formulation consumed in the ensuing month of Karkitakam of Malayalam calendar.
During the day, the Yatra visited Sree Kunnath Temple, Manjeri, Sree Arukizhaya Mahadeva Temple, Ettiyottu Sree Ayyappa Swami Temple and Idimuzhakkal SreeMahaganapathi Temple. After visiting Azhinjillam Thali Mahavishnu Temple, Ramanattukara the Yatra entered Kozhikode on Saturday evening.
The Yatra so far has completed its tour of the temples in the central and the southern districts of Kerala. By Sunday evening, the Yatra will enter Kannur district. Oushadha Biksha Yatra is a first of its kind road show launched to tour 114 temples in the state and collect from them medicines and herbs for preparing the special monsoon season Ayurvedic formulations.
It will be then served to the people during the dreadful month of Karkitakam of Malayalam calendar during which people seek their mental and physical rejuvenation through traditional Ayurvedic preparations. ‘OushadhaSeva’ starts once the Yatra returns to Koothatukulam Oushadheswari Temple.
