Pre-event Workshops to Set Context of Global Ayurveda Fest

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
As a prelude to the Global Ayurveda Festival (GAF 2023), the biggest ever international conclave on the time-tested Indian medicine and wellness system to be held here from December 1 to 5, pre-conference workshops on key topics will be conducted on November 29 and 30 in different venues in the state.

Setting the context for the flagship event, the workshops will cover pathological and clinical aspects of specialised areas like ‘Shalakya’ (‘Netra’), ‘Marma’ and ‘Panchakarma’, besides imparting hands-on training on various procedures and protocols to students and qualified practitioners.

Now into its 5th edition, the focal theme of the GAF 2023, to be held at the Greenfield International Stadium, Karyavattom, is “Emerging Challenges in Healthcare & A Resurgent Ayurveda.”

The biennial event is being organized by the Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action (CISSA) in association with Ministry of Ayush, Government of India; Department of Ayush; Government of Kerala; Ayurveda fraternity represented by AMAI, AMMOI, AHMA, KISMA, ADMA, Viswa Ayurveda Parishad and 14 other Ayurveda Associations.

The workshop on ‘Netra’ is intended to impart an insight into the theoretical and practical aspects of Netra Kriyakalpas like Sekam, Aschodhanam, Pindi, Bidalam, Tarpana and Pudapaka. A hands-on training on different surgical methods like Lekhana and Anushastra will be provided to qualified practitioners at the workshop, to be held at Sreedhareeyam, Koothattukulam, Ernakulam.

The ‘Marma’ workshop, scheduled at Triveni Ayurveda Nursing Home, Vanchiyoor, Thiruvananthapuram, will showcase the unique structural and functional understanding of vital spots in the body.

A thorough theoretical and practical training will be given to students, budding practitioners and adults in the ‘Panchakarma’ workshop at Sree Narayana Ayurveda College, Puthur, Kollam. The resource persons for this workshop include established teachers and experienced practitioners.

The conclave, which has 23 international partners, will witness convergence of many top scientists, and 7,500 delegates from 75 countries.

A major highlight of the GAF is the Arogya Expo with around 500 stalls that will bring together businesses, organisations and other institutions from across the globe to showcase their products, services, and technologies related to Ayurveda. Ayush clinics, Medicinal plants and Education expo will be part of it.
