Zafin Expands Chennai Office for Stronger Presence in India

Zafin, a global banking technology leader, has made further investments in India and has expanded its office in the southern metropolis of Chennai. Enabling core modernisation and driving customer engagement for banks through its product and pricing platform, this expansion strengthens Zafin’s dedication to catalyzing digital transformation in the financial services sector.

The new 12,000-sq-ft facility on the arterial Rajiv Gandhi Salai will enable the global firm to strengthen its focus on collaborative work with business users and solution architects on design, price management, products and packages, while streamlining core banking systems. “The expansion of our office here signifies our deepening commitment to India and our belief in the immense potential of its talent pool to build products, and provide superior customer experiences to our banking clients,” said Managing Director, India, Suja Chandy, at the event.

Operating in India since 2005, Zafin recently won the 2023 Microsoft Financial Services Global Partner of the Year Award. It also has offices and customers around the globe including ING, CIBC, HSBC, Wells Fargo, PNC and ANZ. “We see India affording us and our customers and partners an opportunity to innovate, deliver quality customer service and customer experience, and more importantly an ability to scale our organizations, leveraging some of the top talent in our ecosystem that India has developed in each one of her cities, especially Chennai,” said Founder and Global CEO of Zafin, Mr. Al Karim Somji.

Speakers at the inaugural ceremony included the MD & CEO of Tamil Nadu’s nodal investment promotion agency, ‘Guidance’ Vishnu Venugopalan, who spoke about the opportunities for global technology companies looking to expand in Tamil Nadu and the state’s reputation as a stellar investment destination. LIC & IRDAI former Chairman T.S. Vijayan, spoke about the rapid changes in technology, particularly in the Insurance and Banking sector, as Generative AI gain prominence.

He also spoke about the need for innovations that enhances customer experience. Zafin Vice President and Chennai Centre Head, Parvathy Balasubramanian proposed vote of thanks, which was followed by lunch and a dazzling array of cultural programmes by the talented employees of Zafin. There were a great many well wishers for Zafin’s new chapter in India, including clients and partners, who shared their appreciation and encouragement with the Zafin team.

With this new office in Chennai, Zafin now has two capability centres in India employing more than 300 people.
