KOCHI:
Builder Association of India State committee has urged the government to announce separate package for the construction sector in view of the deep crisis due to the increase in prices and adverse climate during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The majority of the migrant labourers who were depending on the construction sector are now leaving the State. The builders, government contractors, lorry and tipper owners are now in a great debt.

Builders Association urged to bring petrol and diesel prices under GST and check the price hike of cement and other construction materials. They also said that the tender amount for construction should be increased on par with the hike in price of building materials.

The package should also contain 50 per cent advance amount for the government contract works, avoid NPA for bank loans, fund to protect the immigrant labourers and tax reduction for machineries and commercial vehicles. Association said that a meeting of all those connected with the construction should be convened at the earliest.

State president Najeeb Mannel presided over the virtual meet. National president R L Gupta, former national president Cherian Varkey, PRS Murugan, K Jyothikumar, Varghese Kannampalli, Alex Perumalil, Prince Joseph, Santhosh Babu, SA Reghuchandran Nair, VS Jayachandran, John Paul, Paul T Mathew, Harikumar and Rajeev Warrier participated.
