Quarter Finals of U-18 Junior Girls

Spectators and table tennis fans were thrilled as they witnessed matches played in the Ladies and U-16 Sub Junior Girls and the U-18 Junior Boys categories. In the first match Aaron Colaco and Aaron Farias played an impressive game. Aaron Colaco had the edge over Aaron Farias and won the battle with a topspin scoring 11-2, 11-8, 11-6. While Oiyush Salgaokar smashed the ball scoring 11-7, 11-7, 11-3 against his opponent Nathan Noronha to secure his spot in the competition in the competition.tennis
In the U-18 Junior Girls quarter-finals Prutha Parrikar powered through and defeated Sneha Mesta with an impressive score of 11-8, 11-9, 11-7. Spectators watched an entertaining match between determined Sanisha Shetye and Suchetan Bansal. With neither side willing to give up, Sanisha Shetye emerged victorious against Suchetan Bansal with a score of 14-12, 9-11, 11-8, 11-7.
Aditi Chodankar powered through and triumphed over Shivani Dhanapurkar (11-1, 11-5, 11-4) whereas Taniya Patil defeated Aalya Arora (11-6, 11-2, 11-5) to proceed to the semi-finals of the U-18 Junior Girls category.
In the Ladies category Prutha Parrikar defended her spot in the competition with a great back-hand shot against Suchetan Bansal striking a score of 11-3, 11-5, 13-15, 11-6. Aditi Chodankar pushed through and triumphed against Sanisha Shetye (12-14, 11-8, 11-5, 12-10, 12-10). While Eleanor Do Rosario beat Utkarsha Shivani (11-9, 11-4, 11-9) and proceeded to the semi-finals. Tanya Patil battled against Mallika Gogol. It was a difficult battle and both women brought their ‘A’ game. Tanya won with a score of 17-15, 11-6, 8-11, 11-6.
Vivek Carvalho entertained tennis enthusiast while he played against Ronan Fernandes. Thrilling the spectators, Vivek Carvalho won against Ronan Fernandes (14-12, 11-9, 11-6). Whereas Suvidnya Mhamai triumphed over Sanket Kapileshwar (11-9, 11-8, 11-8) with sheer determination amidst the cheer of family and friends.
In the Ladies category, Prutha Parrikar, Aditi Chodankar, Eleanor Do Rosario and Tanya Patil, have secured their position and compete for the ultimate spot. Whereas Prutha Parrikar, Sanisha Shetye, Aditi Chodankar and Tanya Patil proceed to the quarter finals of U-18 Junior Girls category.
Day 4 of the tournament will see matches played in Under 18 Junior Boys category.
The event will be an annual fixture on the state’s sports calendar with the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias Table Tennis Championship slated to be held in June each year. The sports event is supported by Alcon -Anil Counto Enterprises. The matches are scheduled between 3.30pm to 10.0pm and spread over seven days.
The tournament includes 13 categories – Under 10 Mini Cadets (Girls and Boys), the Under 12 Cadet (Girls and Boys), the Under 16 Sub Junior (Girls and Boys), the Under 18 Junior (Girls and Boys), the
Men’s Singles, the Ladies Singles, the Veteran Singles (Above 40), the Veteran Singles (Above 50) and the Veteran Singles (Above 60).
Over the past 80 years under the leadership of various individuals, the club has innovated and improved keeping in the mind the requirement of its members. The club offers facilities for playing badminton, squash, tennis, billiards and tennis within its premises.
