Aster Medcity introduces India’s Comprehensive Neurosurgery team as the hospital launched full-fledged Neuropathology team led by the distinguished Neuropathologist Dr. Vani Santhosh, and Diagnostic Neuroradiology team, spearheaded by renowned Diagnostic Neuroradiologist Dr. Harish Babu.

Heading the neuropathology team is Dr. Vani Santhosh, former Senior Professor of Neuropathology at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), with additional accolades as a Visiting Faculty at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Vani’s ground-breaking research in neuro-oncology has focused on unraveling the biology underlying radio-chemoresistance and tumor recurrence in glioblastoma (GBM) and other gliomas. Her contributions have identified novel diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers, leading to the development of indigenous molecular diagnostic tests for brain tumors.
“Increase in life expectancy and advancements in technology has led to increase in detecting and management of brain tumors effectively. Here, neuropathology plays a crucial role in neurosurgery by providing essential information about the nature and characteristics of brain tumors” said Dr. Vani Santhosh.
Simultaneously, Dr. Harish Babu, distinguished Neuroradiologist specializing in diagnosing brain scans, also joined as a part of the Neuroradiology Team. With his expertise, Aster Medcity’s comprehensive neurosurgery team now stands as Kerala’s foremost and fully-fledged neurosurgery department, offering a complete spectrum of services in the field.
