IIM Kozhikode to Hold a Public Lecture in Memory of the Late Nani A. Palkhivala

Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) will be organizing a public lecture by Arvind P. Datar, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India on Corporate Fraud – Penalizing the honest & rewarding the guilty on the 13th of August, 2016 at 10:30 AM in IIMK campus.
The lecture is being organized in memory of the Late Nani A. Palkhivala, who was an iconic juriiimkst and economist. This talk is being organized by the student run Interest Group – Economics, Politics & Social Sciences (EPS) in collaboration with the Research Office of IIM Kozhikode and the Nani A. Palkhivala Memorial Trust, Mumbai.
Arvind P. Datar is a Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India. His areas of expertise include Taxation, Cost Accountancy and Company laws in general. He has also argued a number of cases before the High Courts, Tribunals and Company Law board. Senior advocate Datar was also the counsel for market regulator SEBI in the high-profile Sahara case.
Datar is also the author of leading books on Central Excise and Constitution. He has shared his insights in media on Indian economy and its Taxation System. He is famously known for his books “Nani Palkhivala: The Courtroom Genius”, “Datar Commentary on Constitution of India” and “Guide to Central Excise Law and Practice: With Accounting Practices”. Apart from his area of specialization, he has argued in different cases related to arbitration, environmental law, mining and intellectual property. He also advises students and young lawyers on subjects related to taxation system, and Indian laws
